Of all these consoles, the SSL 4000 may be the most famous. SSL’s reputation for hit-making sound is unsurpassed, having been used on hit recordings by Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, Madonna, the Rolling Stones, Sia and hundreds of others. in 1969, Solid State Logic currently has over 3,000 SSL consoles in active use around the world. With the EQ and dynamics of the vintage SSL mixers at your fingertips, you can now give your mixes the SSL sound of the big studios.įounded in the U.K. These plugins sound so close to the original consoles, even experts who work with SSL boards day in and day out can’t tell the difference.

Or SSL AWS900 …īut I don’t know, the plugins are really getting better and better theese days.Developed under license from Solid State Logic, the SSL 4000 Collection includes four plugins meticulously modeled on the legendary SSL 4000 mixing consoles: SSL E-Channel, G-Channel, G-Equalizer and G-Master Buss Compressor. God, I am still dreaming about big Neve mixing console.

But theese are used as (external) I/O plugins ofcourse :)) This MH Channel Strip is a-w-e-s-o-m-e and it has a lot of nice nice nice -very nice presets.Īnd finally the two “plugins” I love most: RED 3 and Vt747sp. The other plugin I love for drums is Metric Halo Channel strip (didn’t I mentioned it somewhere else on theese forums?) BUT THEY BOTH (Waves SSL and URS plugins) are soooo cute 🙂 Actually I do not know if I deciede to go for SSL or URS yet… Probably both but what to get first? And the thing is that it is probably not necessary to have them both. Someone with UAD can make a comparsion :). Some “LA2A” style (their names are a bit different I guess) and I have to say I like theese too. They have some really nice presets- a few “fairchilds” and They offer demos as well as rentals (!!!!) which is coooool.īTW- I tried their 1980 compressor/limiter yesterday. They are kind of emulation of good ol’ analog too. The SSL sounds REALLY GREAT and I mean – great. With the Waves SSL 4000 Collection, the classic SSL 4000 sound can now be yours. That would be when I know these plug-ins as well as the others I own. SSL’s reputation for hit-making sound is unsurpassed, having been used on hit recordings by Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, Madonna, the Rolling Stones, Sia and hundreds of others. I actually get inspired by this bundle, and the best mixes are still yet to come. Waves SSL 4000 Collection bundle sounds great, looks terrific and I feel good using it. It’s a kick-ass compressor…and then some. The G-Master Buss Compressor is based on one very famous and great-sounding console with optional analog emulation. McDSP’s Analog Channel contains two plug-ins which set out to emulate analog channels and analog tape machines. That’s because they are good-sounding plug-ins, and I know them very well.įurthermore, I don’t think it’s fair to compare AC1 to the G-Master Buss Compressor. Although I’m very impressed with Waves SSL I will continue to use eq/dynamics from McDSP/Eventide/Digidesign/Sony and others. All these plug-ins sounds great, and it’s up to me (and every other recording/mixing engineer) to pick the best tool for every task at hand. I own both McDSP FilterBank/MC2000 and Waves SSL 4000 Collection bundle. Once you try them though….youll probably be hooked and cant do without them.

Try their 30-day FULL demos! The demos work perfect, no bleeps or restrictions for 30-days! I dont know what these guys programmed into their plug-ins, but to me theyre BAD ASS! These are some Incredible sounding plug-ins. But the 4000, while perhaps not as clean. These boards were more or less the standard in high-end studios for many years, until they eventually gave way to SSLs 9000 series, and later digital consoles. Alot of guys call this plug-in the SSL in a box! It sounds AWESOME on drum tracks- sub mix tracks!!!!! Anyone whos ever heard music recorded and mixed in the 80s and 90s has heard the sound of the classic SSL 4000 consoles. Theyre good, they wont add colour….quite transparent and quite inexpensive!
